Melissa’s Most Valuable Property – MVP – Discriminating Details

And the MVP is ……

Happy Monday everyone!   My most valuable property pick of the week, my MVP, is a stunning home with details for the discriminating eye, in the lovely neighborhood of Oyster Bay in Sarasota.  I’ve been dying to show you this home since I first saw it, so keep reading to find out why it made my most valuable list!  Here’s the Virtual Tour.

1522 N Lake Shore Dr, Sarasota, FL

The Details

Details matter.  Particularly timeless details.  And this home has them.  Everywhere you look at 1522 N Lake Shore Dr., there is something that catches your eye.  Something distinct…a detail.  Approaching on the bed of shells, paved tabby driveway, you are immediately drawn to the understated elegant limestone-clad front facade of the home.  With its skirt of oyster shell tabby finish, so indicative of the old-world, southern coastal homes, to its shutters, and subtly placed fretwork.

Did you know?
Tabby was used not only as a substitute for bricks, which, due to a shortage of clay, were rare and expensive.  It was also used in place of concrete for floors, foundations, and mortar.

And the details continue inside.  You’ll have to watch my video to see the ones that caught my eye.  But they include, an alabaster backspash, African mahogany floors, 22 feet ceilings, cased openings, 8″ baseboards, Stark carpet, secret storage, twinkling lights, and ambient lit coffered ceilings in just about every room of the house. The list goes on and on.

The Exterior

As I mention in the video, the setting for this home is as stunning as the home itself.  From its graceful approach as you wind down N Lake Shore Dr, until you turn into your back tabby driveway – allowing the front drive to remain clear and clutter-free for your guests pristine arrival.  The virtually maintenance free landscaping of podocarpus hedges, graceful ficus and palm trees, well placed board paths that all lead to the surprise of a peaceful pond with chirping birds,  filling the view beyond the backyard.  And the exterior lanai is ideal for entertaining and as elegant as the interior.  It will not disappoint, with is tongue & groove beamed ceiling, stone fireplace and mosquito screens hidden in the columns to lower with a touch of a button, it is the perfect entertaining space.

The Result

If you are the discriminating buyer.  The person who cannot get enough detail.  Who loves a place for everything, and everything in its place.  The person who believes function can be beautiful.  And someone who wants their outdoors as lovely and as designed as the inside of their home – then this house is for you.  This house will never be out of style.

Thank you for reading why I choose this Michael Saunders listing by Lenore Treiman as my MVP for this week’s blog.
